The Khomas 100, which serves as a qualifying event for the World Gravel Series scheduled for August 23rd this year, will once more receive support from the local insurance provider Hollard. Winners of the Khomas 100 secure their place at the UCI Gravel World Championships. Additionally, the race acts as a qualification round for the African Continental Gravel Championship.

During the launch earlier this week, Anri Parker, who is organizing the Khomas 100 event, mentioned that the 157 km race will offer a prize pool of N$250,000 and begin from Cymot in Kleine Kuppe instead of the usual starting point at the Tony Rust Race Track. Riders looking for something less strenuous can opt for either an 84 km or a 44 km route as alternatives. These races welcome participants riding gravel bikes, mountain bikes, and electric bicycles alike."

Other sponsors include Indongo Toyota, Heineken, and 226ERS.

Jaco Lamprecht, CEO of Hollard Namibia, stated, "We are extremely honored to continue our association as the main sponsor with this exceptional international competition. It’s truly gratifying to see how quickly this race has grown since inception, turning into a significant annual event within just two years. Our gratitude goes out to all co-sponsors, alongside the Namibian Cycling Federation and entities such as the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture, who collaborated with us to make this spectacular tournament possible."

The President of the Namibian Cycling Federation, Taukol Shilongo, stated, "This event brings us immense pride as securing a spot on the UCI calendar in just its second year is an incredible achievement. This marks the first such event in Africa and has significantly boosted Namibia's visibility globally. Through cycling, we're opening up remarkable opportunities for both boys and girls in our country."

At the event kickoff, the Executive Director from the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Erastus Haitengela, mentioned that this competition will aid in presenting Namibia’s dynamic cultural scene and stunning scenery to viewers around the globe.

"The Ministry is delighted to participate in programs showcasing Namibia’s capability to hold premier global events. We remain steadfast in our commitment to equip athletes with the resources required for success and take pride in advancing cycling within the nation. It excites us greatly to contribute to these cycling collaborations which facilitate enduring transformation and developmental opportunities for the country via sports," he stated.
