Waterfall Effect: Rooftop Pool Cascades After Myanmar Earthquake in China

A video went viral showing the instant a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, causing water from an upper-floor swimming pool in a skyscraper located in China’s Yunnan province to spill down onto the road beneath it, knocking over passersby.

A strong earthquake hit close to Mandalay in Myanmar, causing vibrations felt even in Yunnan, approximately 760 kilometers away from where the quake originated. This seismic activity caused a surge of water to overflow from the rooftop pool, transforming it into an abrupt cascade.

Footage shows pedestrians running for cover upon noticing the water falling from above. But within seconds, the heavy cascade slammed down, knocking several people off their feet and sweeping them along the street.

Photos taken after the event depicted a chaotic scene on the road.

Located in southwest China, Yunnan Province is an inland area renowned for its stunning landscapes, profound cultural history, and exquisite food.

Following the release of the film "Meet Yourself," featuring Liu Yifei and Li Xian, tourism in Yunnan has experienced significant growth, drawing numerous visitors.

On Friday afternoon, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, leading to building collapses and triggering vibrations and fear in neighboring countries such as Vietnam, China, and Thailand.

Earlier, videos shared on social media depicted water flowing down from the rooftop pool of a five-star hotel in Bangkok as a result of the earthquake.

The Myanmar State Administration Council reported that the death toll from the catastrophic earthquake has increased to around 1,700 individuals, with 3,400 others wounded and 300 remaining unaccounted for.
