Many tens of thousands of protesters filled the streets of several major U.S. cities on Saturday as part of large-scale demonstrations against President Donald Trump’s policies, representing the biggest synchronized protests since he returned to the White House.
The protests, mobilized under the slogan " Hands Off," took place in various locations including Washington D.C., New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Florida, Colorado, along with numerous other cities across the country.
Protesters expressed outrage over a range of issues including government downsizing, trade tariffs, reproductive rights, and what they described as a steady erosion of civil liberties.
"I'm furious, absolutely livid all the time. It's terrible that a group of allegedly privileged, white individuals who are accused of rape have control over our nation," stated Shaina Kesner, a 43-year-old artist from New York City as she joined a procession moving through downtown Manhattan.
In Washington, thousands of protesters—many coming from various parts of the United States—assembled at the National Mall. There, numerous speakers whipped up opposition against Trump among the crowd.
A legislator from Osun state provided assistance to more than 100 senior citizens in Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area. The President of Iran has dismissed his deputy after allegations surfaced about an extravagant Antarctic cruise taken with his spouse. In the United Kingdom, Member of Parliament Dan Norris was apprehended on suspicions related to child sexual offenses and rape.We have approximately 100 individuals arriving by bus and van from New Hampshire to demonstrate against this unacceptable administration," stated Diane Kolifrath, aged 64, a bicycle tour guide. "This administration is making us lose allies worldwide and bringing destruction upon people in our own country.
“They’re gutting our government.”
In Los Angeles, a woman adorned as a figure from the dystopian book "The Handmaid's Tale" held up a big banner saying, "Get out of my uterus," which was a critique of Trump's stance against abortion.
In Denver, Colorado, amidst a sizable group of demonstrators, an individual lifted a sign that read "No king for USA."
The protests even reached several European capital cities, with demonstrators expressing their disapproval of Trump and his confrontational trade strategies.
"What’s occurring in America is everybody's concern," Liz Chamberlain, who holds both US and British citizenship, stated to AFP during a demonstration in London.
It's economically absurd... He will drive us into a worldwide recession.
In Berlin, 70-year-old retired Susanne Fest commented that Trump had sparked "a constitutional crisis," further stating, "That man is insane."
